Aston Martin V12 Vantage coming to the U.S.

There is good news for Aston Martin enthusiasts in the US! The V12 Vantage is said to not be available in North America and to be limited to 1,000 units in its one-year life span. However, there seems to be a glimmer of hope since CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez told the media during the Frankfurt Motor Show that Aston Martin may well build more of this sports car.

In addition, homologation is well under way for the U.S. market. With regards to the Rapide four-door sedan, Bez said that the company has high hopes. Its main rival, the Porsche Panamera, was displayed in the same show hall although Bez claims that he has yet to look at it more closely. More details and photos after the jump!

Nearly twenty years ago, Bez worked on the more lightweight and compact four-door Porsche 989 concept, which he says was closer in concept to the Aston Martin Rapide. Aston plans to sell 2000 units annually while Porsche aims to sell 20,000 Panameras for the same period.

Aston clearly has the more realistic target. A potential competitor for the Rapide, the Lamborghini Estoque, is still on hold indefinitely. Bez asserted that he is not concerned about the styling similarities between the V8 and V12 Vantage and the DB9/DBS models. The main thing he says is “that people recognize it is an Aston Martin.”
